The Celtica Forever concept has its origin in the annual design
awards jointly awarded by
The
Crafts Council of Ireland (CCoI) and
The
North American Celtic Buyers Association (NACBA).
In early 2004 a brief was prepared by these two organizations
and distributed to interested parties. A competition took place
between a large number of leading craft workers from many disciplines.
The theme for the 2004 award was ‘Celtic Love Stories’
and the winner was chosen by a panel of US and Irish experts including;
Neville Gardner (President, NACBA), Cynthia McBurney (Vice President,
NACBA), Laurence Burrell (from The Wickerman craft shop, Belfast)
and Antoinette Reilly (Journalist, Ireland of the Welcomes).
Dublin based goldsmith and jeweler Clarisse Wisser responded to
the brief with a range which she called Celtica Forever based
on an ancient Celtic Love Story – Angus in Love. This range,
in its distinctive packaging with emerald green ribbon, was chosen
by the Jury as the overall winner, View press
